FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Shin guards

Are the shin guards made from carbon fiber?

No. SAK used to work with carbon fiber but has been evolving in order to find better materials, that do not shred under impacts nor cause any discomfort to the players. SAK shin guards are made from polymer materials unbreakable in football practice, normally used in the military and aeronautic industries.

Do these materials protect me against serious injuries?

SAK shin guards are certified according to the EN 13061 European standard that performs impact testing as well as chemical testing to assure the possibility of usage on the skin. The materials we use ensure a high energy absorption capacity, but shin guards are not designed to fully protect against serious injuries derived from violent, forbidden and sanctioned tackles.

What kind of accessories can I use to hold the shin guards over the legs?

The shin guards can be used only with a soccer sock, compression sock, or with shin guard stays. With the shin guards, we send a pair of calf sleeves that help to maintain the shin guards in the desired position. Any other support accessories should be purchased separately.

Will the shin guards hold the legs on their own?

SAK shin guards tend to slip significantly less than "standard" shin guards due to the better fit with the leg shape. However, they should always be used with calf sleeves, shin guard stays or any other support accessories. With each pair of shin guards, we send a pair of calf sleeves.

I have some allergy problems with materials widely used on "standard" products. May I use SAK shin guards directly over the skin?

SAK shin guards are certified according to the EN 13061 European standard that performs impact testing as well as chemical testing to assure the possibility of usage on the skin. Their use should not cause any allergic reactions on the skin, but if they occur you should use them with a sock between the shin guard and the skin.

Where are SAK products produced?

In Portugal, Europe.

What is the durability of the shin guards' design?

The design has a protective layer that ensures no wear marks throughout time. Only in the case of very violent tackles on the shin guard can they be scratched os slightly damaged on the graphics' layer.

What kind of procedures should I consider in their maintenance?

The maintenance instructions are detailed in the information booklet provided with the shin guards, but mainly you should avoid exposing the shin guards to extreme temperatures (hot or cold), as well as compressing them or storing them in an inappropriate way. The shin guards should be cleaned only with a damp cloth and left to dry on air after being used.

What kind of guarantee do I have that the custom shin guards will fit me?

SAK uses state-of-the-art 3D scanning and modeling technologies and assures the custom shin guards are produced so they fit the position requested by the client. The used process guarantees a shape with a very close approximation to the client's leg, however, it may not be 100% perfect due to the fact that an in-place 3D scan was not performed. If by any reason the received shin guards' shape does not match the client's provided information, you should contact SAK's customer support so the case can be analyzed and solved.

Can I create a design similar to the one of a famous player?

SAK assures its clients that their custom designs are not used by other players without their approval (naturally excluding the base designs available on the website).

Can I see my design before the shin guards are produced?

Yes, According to the chosen model, the client provides the elements that he / she wishes to include in the shin guards (name, number, pictures, colors, etc.) and SAK produces a design proposal. This proposal is changed with the client until the design is approved. Only after the design is approved does SAK produce the shin guards.

I want a different layout from the ones available on the website, a totally custom. How may I do this?

This type of layout is only available through direct contact with SAK and carries additional costs for the client. Please contact us through the email address provided on the website.

Must I choose the standard recommended size?

The EN 13061 European standard recommends a minimal size according to the user's height. That size can be obtained in the product description. However, the client is free to choose any of the 4 available sizes for his shin guards.

May I use images from other people, logos, brands, etc.?

SAK requests the client not to include any names, images, brands, etc. whose usage rights he does not possess and reserves the right to refuse their inclusion on the design. The client assumes full responsibility for the usage of the provided elements for inclusion in the shin guards' design.
